The Lakers ski team was finally back on the hill after a week of cancelations due to weather. The Laker Boys had no issue with their extended break. They finished 2ndto Forest Hills Northern/Eastern in the third conference race of the season. In the Giant Slalom, Charlie Parker finished in 10thplace, Colby Brown was 14th, Aidan Parker was 17th, and Griffin Phares rounded out the scoring in 20th. Jack Lauinger (31st) and Jonah Wilhelm (32nd) also competed for the Lakers. In the Slalom, Charlie Parker was 7th, Aidan Parker was 8th, Colby Brown was 10th, Griffin Phares was 19th, Dawson Sherman was 27th, and Jack Lauinger had a DSQ in his second run.
The girls were racing shorthanded due to some racers participating in the SLHS Band trip to Disney World over the weekend. The Girls were 8thin Slalom and 9thin Giant Slalom. Junior Erin Burke led the team in both events with a 16thin Giant Slalom and a 20thin Slalom. The other racers for the Laker girls were Zoe Komar (34thand 42nd), Annika Holleman (45thand 48th), and Alexis Kotrch (51stin both events).
The race last night was also Senior night for the Greater Grand Rapids Area Ski Conference. The Lakers’ two Seniors, Charlie Parker and Colby Brown, were recognized in a ceremony prior to the race. The Lakers are scheduled to compete in a make-up race tomorrow at Cannonsburg. This will be their last competition before they compete in Regionals next Wednesday the 13th.
